World Environmental Day 2023

“World Environment Day” has been celebrated every year since June 5th, 1973. Designated by the United Nation’s General Assembly, it is the principal vehicle for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment. The goal of celebrating “World Environment Day” was to raise awareness of environmental issues like marine pollution, global warming, sustainable consumption, deforestation and wildlife poaching.

The theme for World Environment Day 2017, was ‘Connecting People with Nature.’ It implores us to get outdoors and into nature, to appreciate its beauty and its importance, and to take forward the call to protect the Earth that we share. To mark the day, thousands joined hands and came forward to clean up beaches and riverbanks across the globe. To commemorate this in Mumbai, 500 palm trees were planted across Versova Beach.

At Dai-ichi, we celebrate this event every year to spread awareness on environmental issues, encouraging people to promote sustainable and eco-friendly development, while keeping their surroundings clean. In an effort to maintain our high standards of social responsibility, we organized activities for our employees to participate in.

Mr. Ijajuddin Sayyad, from our EHS department, emphasized the need of having a constructive plan to mitigate menacing environmental problems that could only be resolved if we feel close to the environment around us. Dr. Sanjay Puro, highlighted the issue of land pollution and its negative effects on the environment and consequently on our daily lives. He explained the efforts that Dai-ichi has taken, on following ethical business processes to remain committed towards environmental health & safety. Mr. Pathak concluded the ceremony with a vote of thanks and a pledge on behalf of each and every employee to protect and conserve the environment.

On this day, Dai-ichi successfully completed a tree plantation drive, that our employees enthusiastically participated in. A total of 100 saplings and shrubs were planted throughout the Pune factory premises. Dai-ichi has been celebrating World Environment Day for over 25 years and plans to continue to support this special day.
